Carsten is an Operating Partner at Relay Investments Europe and has more than 20 years of investment experience across private equity, M&A and the search fund ecosystem.
He mentors searchers throughout their lifecycle from sourcing, target evaluation, transaction execution to post-acquisition value creation as a board member.
Before joining Relay, Carsten spent six years leading M&A at the DACH region of stock-listed SPIE Group, where he executed more than 20 acquisitions of SMEs in the technical services sector. Prior to that, he spent 17 years at the private equity firm ECM Equity Capital Management, where he was a Partner investing in SME’s across the DACH region.
In parallel, Carsten has also been an active investor in the search fund ecosystem for ten years, investing in approximately 40 search funds and 15 operating companies.
Carsten holds an MBA from Technical University of Berlin with prior studies at the University of Passau and Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona.
Outside of work, Carsten enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and the family dog. He enjoys an early morning jog or swim and loves the mountains for skiing and hiking (unfortunately quite far away from Carsten’s base in Duesseldorf)
